Dan's Emerald Forest
Every year after Halloween, Dan Schmidt decks out his Overland front yard with holiday lights and displays to prep his legendary train layout for Christmas. A landscaper by trade, Schmidt's train display features bridges, a waterfall (it's only turned on when weather allows), miniature trees and buildings, and several tunnels in and out of his basement. Throughout December, Schmidt hopes to be running his six garden trains Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30 to 10 p.m. He is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, except the week of Christmas and New Year's, when the trains run nightly. Dan's Emerald Forest is located at 8851 Windom Ave., Overland, MO, 63114. Get the details.
