St. Luke's Hospital is the only hospital in St. Louis to be named one of America's 50 Best Hospitals in 2014 by Healthgrades. This is the eighth year in a row (2007-2014) that St. Luke's has achieved this designation, and St. Luke's is the only hospital in St. Louis to be named one of America's 50 Best Hospitals since the inception of the list.
As one of America's 50 Best Hospitals, St. Luke's ranks among the top one percent of hospitals in the nation for clinical excellence based on survival and complication rates. According to Healthgrades, patients admitted to an America's 50 Best Hospital are more likely to have successful treatment without major complications. For example, out of all the St. Louis hospitals that Healthgrades evaluated for the treatment of heart attack, St. Luke's is among the hospitals with the highest survival rates.
Healthgrades is an independent healthcare ratings organization that annually rates each of the nation's nearly 4,500 non-government hospitals that treat Medicare patients. Hospitals cannot opt out of this analysis, and no hospital pays to be evaluated.
Its website, Healthgrades.com, offers consumers a guide to doctors and hospitals nationwide.
