Taubman Prestige Outlets Chesterfield
Taubman Centers broke ground last Wednesday on the Taubman Prestige Outlets Chesterfield. The open-air outlet mall is scheduled to open on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013.
Taubman Prestige Outlets Chesterfield will feature 450,000 square feet of retail space with more than 100 stores. The 49-acre shopping center will be located north of Highway 40 near the Boone's Crossing exit.
Forty retailers have already signed on to the shopping facility. According to the company's news release, the outlet mall will include the following stores: Banana Republic Factory Store, Gap Outlet, J.Crew Factory, Carter's, Osh Kosh B'gosh and Motherhood Maternity among others. See the complete list of current retailers on the Taubman website.
During the ground-breaking ceremony, Taubman presented a $10,000 check to Chesterfield Arts and announced it would be a sponsor of the Chesterfield Summer Concert Series.
St. Louis Premium Outlets
Simon Property Group and Woodmont Outlets started construction on July 11 in Chesterfield Valley on an additional outlet mall: St. Louis Premium Outlets. This 350,000-square-food shopping area will house 85 stores. It is also scheduled to open in the fall of 2013, according to a company news release.
St. Louis Premium Outlets will be be anchored by Sakes Fifth Avenue OFF 5th, and will also include Ann Taylor, Tommy Hilfiger, sportswear retailers and the children's retailer Hartstrings.
Simon Property Group also manages St. Louis Mills in Hazelwood.
The construction of two outlet malls in such close proximity has drawn criticism from those that worry Chesterfield Valley's retail business is already saturated. Several retailers have committed to stores in both outlet centers, including Maidenform, Brooks Brothers, Famous Footwear, Jones New York and others.
