"The Art of the Brick" is sure to stack up to the expectations of Lego and art fans alike as it is one of the largest and most popular exhibits of its kind currently touring the globe. Sawaya has taken the small-scale toy and transformed it into an art medium all its own, resulting in awe-inspiring and thought-provoking sculptures. CNN hailed "The Art of the Brick" as one of the top 12 "must see exhibitions in the world."
"I use Lego bricks as my medium because I enjoy seeing people's reactions to artwork created from something with which they are familiar. Everyone can relate to it since it is a toy that many children have at home. I want to elevate this simple plaything to a place it has never been before," said Sawaya.
Museum visitors will get the opportunity to see Sawaya's sculptures up close and then try their hand at making their own Lego creations. "The Art of the Brick" will be at The Magic House Sept. 22 through Jan. 27 and is free with museum admission.
