It may be early November, but it is already looking a lot like Christmas in St. Louis. Threeholiday events will be held downtown this month to celebrate the holidays: Macy's Festival ofLights, Ameren Missouri Thanksgiving Day Parade and St. Louis Holiday Magic Family Festival.
Macy's Festival of Lights The Macy's Festival of Lights kicks off the holiday season on from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, in Kiener Plaza (intersection of 6th and Chestnut streets). The festival includes performances by the Salvation Army Brass Ensemble, Grand Center Arts Academy Show Choir, St. Louis Christmas Carols Association, Muny Kids, Show-Me Sound and Rivertown Sound Quartet. Lots of other special guests, including Santa Claus and The Rockettes, will also make appearances. The tree will be lit at 5:50 p.m. followed by a fireworks display.
Walk down 6th Street to Macy's at 6 p.m. for more entertainment, including a holiday sing-along, cookie decorating, crafts, jugglers, Santa and more.
Ameren Missouri Thanksgiving Day Parade The 28th annual Ameren Missouri Thanksgiving Day Parade will start at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22. The parade route starts at Washington Avenue and Fourth Street and continues south on Fourth Street to Market Street before continuing west on Market Street to 10th Street. Honorary Grand Marshals for the parade include Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Jeffrey Bonner and Adrian Bracy.
St. Louis Holiday Magic The St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission is bringing St. Louis Holiday Magic back for its third year, this year during Thanksgiving weekend: Nov. 23-25. Holiday Magic promises more rides, exhibits and activities than previous years, including a Breakfast with Santa. Families will enjoy entertainment from choirs, bands, musicians and dancers; shopping; arts and crafts projects; photo opportunities with Santa, Snowflake, local celebrities and mascots; carnival rides and a trackless train; punt, pass and kick area for St. Louis Rams fans; a petting zoo and more.
Holiday Magic is held indoors at America's Center, 701 Convention Plaza, St. Louis, Mo., 63101. The event is open Friday, Nov. 23, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 25, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, $5 for children (2 and under are free), and $5 for advanced tickets for groups of 10 or more. Tickets can be purchased online.
