The experience begins when visitors peek through a nursery window and see babies lined up in bassinets. Dressed up in a doctor coat or scrubs, young doctors and nurses will measure and weigh the babies, as well as bathe and dress them. Pretend parents will be able to rock the babies and learn the five ways to calm a baby including swaddling and swinging.
The Children’s Village Hospital will be located in the Children’s Village of the museum, a unique environment where children take on the roles of members of a pretend community and explore a variety of career choices. The Children’s Village Hospital will mimic the Family-Centered Care model used in real hospitals where doctors, nurses and parents all work together as partners to best meet the needs of the baby.
The Magic House, located in Kirkwood, is a not-for-profit participatory museum that provides hands-on learning experiences for children and families that encourage experimentation, creativity and the development of problem-solving skills within a place of beauty, wonder, joy and magic.
