Does your kid have what it takes to play ball at Major League Baseball's All-Star Game? Boys and girls ages 7-14 can compete in Pitch, Hit & Run competitions throughout the area to find out. Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of MLB, and the competitions are free to participants.
The competitions are being held at numerous local parks in April and May, including Collinsville's Jaycee Sports Complex at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3; Chesterfield Athletic Complex at 8:30 a.m. on April 27; and Florissant's Koch Park at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 2.
Winners of the local competitions move on to the sectionals, and possibly on to the team championships and national finals during MLB All-Star Week. National finalists receive an all-expense paid trip to the All-Star Game in New York City, where they'll participate in a welcome reception, MLB Brunch and All-Star FanFest. Finalists will compete on-field prior to shagging fly balls during the Home Run Derby.
