In honor of their new exhibit, "Lost Egypt: Ancient Secrets, Modern Science," Saint Louis Science Center visitors can begin their Egyptian journey by riding camels on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8.
The camel rides will be located outside the science center's main building (5050 Oakland Ave., St. Louis, Mo., 63110). Camel rides are $5. The camel can seat up to two children and one adult. Children must be at least two years old and children between 2 and 4 are required to ride with an adult. As an added feature, visitors can see and pet a baby camel for free. (Camel rides were originally scheduled for May 31 and June 1 but were postponed due to the threat of severe weather.)
"Lost Egypt" opened on May 25 and reveals how archaeologists use modern science and technology to uncover and understand the ancient civilization of Egypt. Through hands-on challenges, authentic artifacts and guidance from real scientists, visitors unearth the mysteries of Egypt, its culture and its people. In conjunction with the exhibit, the Saint Louis Science Center is presenting "Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs" in the OMNIMAX Theater.
Tickets to the exhibition are $12 for adults; $10 for children, seniors and college students with a valid ID; and $8 for military. Or take advantage of the combo deal for both the exhibition and movie: $15 for adults and $12 for children. Become a member and get an even better deal: $6 for adults, $5 for children for the exhibition. Members may redeem their vouchers for free admission to the OMNIMAX.
