There will be a new holiday light display in St. Louis in 2013. The Missouri Botanical Garden has announced plans for its Garden Glow 2013 light exhibit.
Hundreds of thousands of lights will adorn some of the garden's iconic locations, including the Climatron, Kaeser Memorial Maze, the Central Axis and Tower Grove House, according to a garden news release. The garden plans to transform walkways into sensory light tunnels and create traditional candlelight village displays.
"Our members, visitors and staff have asked about the possibility of seasonal lights for years. This is the year." said Missouri Botanical Garden President Peter Wyse Jackson.
Garden Glow will also feature music, food and drinks, including s'more-making at fire pits on the grounds. Special glow gear will be sold throughout the garden and in the Garden Gate Shop, giving show attendees an opportunity to become a part of the fun.
Garden Glow 2013 will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday evenings from Nov. 23 through Dec. 17. The glow will be open nightly from Dec. 18 through Jan. 4, except for Dec. 24, 25 and 31 when the exhibit will be closed.
Garden Glow admission varies by date. From Nov. 23 through Dec. 19, admission is $16 for adults, $12 for members, $10 for children (3-12) and $6 for members' children. From Dec. 20 to Jan. 4, admission is $18 for adults, $14 for members, $10 for children (3-12) and $6 for members' children. Children 2 and under are free during all dates.
