The City of O'Fallon will be showcasing its new disc golf course, The Fort, in Fort Zumwalt Park during the course's grand opening on Saturday, April 12.
From noon to 2 p.m., visitors are invited to play the 18-hole course, which loops throughout the park. The first 100 people to attend will receive a free commemorative golf disc. Gateway Disc Sports will offer demonstrations, tips and game merchandise at the event. The St. Charles County Disc Golf Club will also be in attendance.
"We're proud of our new disc golf course, which has features for both beginners and more advanced players," said Cindy Springer, O'Fallon Parks and Recreation Director. "The course will be open for play, free, from spring to early fall, dawn to dusk. Maps showing the course layout will be posted, and free score cards will be available."
The sport of disc golf is played by aiming flying discs at targets. A variety of discs are used (disc putters, drivers and mid-range discs), and players try to reach their targets with as few throws as possible.
Fort Zumwalt Park is at 1000 Jessup Drive W, O'Fallon, Mo., 63368. See maps and course descriptions on theFort Zumwalt Park website.
