Lucky's Market has opened its first St. Louis store in Ellisville. The Market fills the former site of Straub's, which closed almost five years ago.
Lucky's Markets is known for selling "local, organic, sustainable and traditionally crafted foods," according to its website. The market has a well appointed produce department with a fresh-squeezed juice stand. It also features a meat/seafood department, dairy, bulk goods, natural living, wine and spirits departments. If you walk in hungry, you'll find plenty of meals ready to eat in the deli department, hot foods kitchen, salad bar and bakery. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and even a bar.
Lucky's Markets operates stores throughout the central U.S., and this is their second location in Missouri. They plan to open a second St. Louis store at 9530 Manchester Road in Rock Hill in 2015.
Lucky's Market is having a grand opening on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The market will offer house-made brats, hot dogs and sodas for $1 each. There will also be live music by Flea Bitten Dawgs, face painting and vendor demonstrations. The festivities continue on Sunday, Aug. 3, with a Local Food Fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with local vendor samples and face painting.
