A new 15.5-acre park is now open in Florissant. Officials dedicated Schaefer Bend Park, the county's 71st park, during a ceremony on Aug. 1.
The park has a parking lot and three buildings that St. Louis County Parks is using for storage. The remainder of the property is open green space. Eventually county parks may add trails and an athletic field to the property, however there are no immediate plans to do so.
St. Louis County acquired the park from Ronald W. Schaefer, and the property formerly was the headquarters for Schaefer-Meyer Grading Division.
The park is located within the proposed Cold Water Creek Greenway and within Sunland Hills subdivision.
