The new facility is part of the Your Library Renewed capital improvement campaign, which was funded by a 2012 voter approved tax increase, according to a library news release.
"Staff and patrons have been eagerly awaiting the new south county branch, and they won't be disappointed," said Library Director Kristen Sorth. "Grant's View is going to be a state-of-the-art library with something for everyone – families, job seekers, teens looking for a place to hangout, seniors wanting to attend a program, or someone looking for a good book. This new library will be an asset to the entire community."
The Grant's View Branch will be a two-story facility featuring abundant natural light and plenty of comfortable seating. Additional amenities include an expanded children's area with a program and crafts center, two meeting rooms, a computing area (including an instructional lab), study rooms, a teen space and quiet areas. The new facility will offer plenty of parking; there will also be green space available for a community garden or outdoor programming. The building will provide a safe and accessible place for people to visit for information, programs, collaboration, community and fun.
The Tesson Ferry Branch will remain open during construction. Additional information about the capital improvement projects at SLCL can be found at www.slcl.org/your-library-renewed.
