The Saint Louis Zoo has announced plans to re-open its popular Penguin and Puffin Coast exhibit Thursday, March 5. Visitors are invited to watch a special parade of the King and Gentoo penguins beginning at 10:30 a.m. The exhibit will re-open immediately following the parade.
Penguin and Puffin Coast opened in 2003 and is home to about 100 oceanic birds. The exhibit closed in September 2013 for construction of McDonnell Polar Bear Point, which is expected to open in summer 2015.
"We know our visitors have missed the penguins and we're happy to bring them back," said Jeffrey P. Bonner, Dana Brown President and Chief Executive Officer of the Saint Louis Zoo. "Our spectacular new Polar Bear Point will be well worth the wait."
