The St. Louis Metro Cinderella Project: Prom Dresses with a Purpose is looking for fairy godmothers for deserving girls this prom season. The popular program, now in its sixth year, has joined forces with the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition to provide a free dress to every teen girl in foster care who is a high school junior or senior and attending prom.
The organization will help hundreds of girls from 42 local high schools find the perfect dress at a weeklong VIP (Very Important Prom-goer) shopping opportunity.
After the VIPs have had an opportunity to shop, remaining dresses will be available for public purchase at a "Say Yes to the Prom Dress" event Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the ReFresh boutique, located at 1710 S. Brentwood Blvd., St. Louis, MO, 63144. Short dresses will be available for $25 and long dresses will be $35.
Proceeds will support the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition. The Cinderella Project is accepting gently used dresses at several locations throughout the St. Louis area. Volunteers are also needed to serve as personal shoppers and seamstresses.
