Whether shopping for gifts, planning a party or designing their own miniature room, kids and tweens are sure to enjoy the experiences offered at My Room Rocks, now open inside Chesterfield Mall.
At this unique new store, kids can design and create their own doll rooms, which are scaled to fit 11.5-inch dolls. Guests choose wall colors, window treatments, bedding, furniture and more, and then take their miniature room home for hours of playtime with their own dolls.
“As a child, I enjoyed making rooms so much out of scraps, as did my daughters,” owner Mary Sittler said. “They enjoyed using their creations when playing with their Barbies.”
Mary Sittler and her husband/co-owner, John, currently operate a store in Georgia. The Chesterfield location will be the second in the country.
“I am really excited about the St. Louis store,” said Mary Sittler, a St. Louis native. “We will finally have the space to make it our dream store.”
Packages start at $32 per person and are designed to accommodate birthday parties, individual girls and Girl Scout troops. As their inventory increases, so will the package options. My Room Rocks is also a retail store, or “a girl museum,” as one shopper described it, where shoppers can browse fair trade and handmade items, as well as treasures for tweens, teens and even moms.
“We have sections of gifts based on different interests,” Mary Sittler said. “We have an area where all the crafts, jewelry, etc. are animal themed. We have an area for cooking, science, arts & crafts, spa fun, sports, room décor and more.”
My Room Rocks makes gift buying easy. Kids can create their own gift registries for birthdays and at Christmas, they can fill out a wish list and “mail it” in the store’s North Pole mailbox. Letters are then shared with parents, in case Santa needs a little assistance.
My Room Rocks opened to the public Oct. 16 and has announced plans to host a grand opening celebration Nov. 7. Visit the My Room Rocks website for more information about the store and follow them on Facebook for the latest on the grand opening.
