Delta Dental Health Theatre has announced plans to open the region’s first museum dedicated to educating children about healthy lifestyles. Slated to open in spring 2016, HealthWorks! Kids’ Museum St. Louis will inspire kids to make positive health choices through hands-on, interactive exhibits.
The 12,000-square-foot museum will include a 4D “My Mouth” theater and areas where visitors can role play visits to the doctor, dentist and farmers’ market. Visitors can shop for educational items in the gift shop, fuel up at a healthy café, and burn off a little energy at an indoor accessible Unlimited Play playground. Admission prices will be determined closer to the museum's opening.
The museum will be located near the Saint Louis Science Center at 1100 Macklind Ave., St. Louis, MO, 63110. The building is owned by the Saint Louis Science Center and is being leased to the HealthWorks! museum. Delta Dental Health Theatre will relocate to the new building from its current location at Laclede’s Landing.
The project is being funded by a $2.5 million capital campaign. More than $1.25 million has been raised to date; for information on donating to the new museum or for a one-time opportunity to become a founding member, call 314-241-7391 or visit www.HWSTL.org.
