St. Louis County Library has announced plans to close five additional library branches in December 2015 and January 2016 for renovations. Samuel C. Sachs will close Dec. 12, 2015; Oak Bend will close Jan. 9, 2016; Natural Bridge will close Jan. 16, 2016; Prairie Commons will close Jan. 23, 2016; and Cliff Cave will close Jan. 30, 2016.
Renovations will include several features geared to families, including enhanced children’s areas with bright colors and interactive learning stations, dedicated areas for children’s programming, family restrooms and private study rooms. The renovations will also include new carpeting, comfortable seating and new public computers. The libraries are expected to reopen within six to nine months of closing.
St. Louis County Library has also announced plans to reopen Indian Trails Monday, Nov. 23 at 9 a.m. Renovations include a dedicated teen area, a new entrance, a quiet reading area and an expanded children's area. Earlier this month the library reopened the renovated Jamestown Bluffs Branch. The new Lewis & Clark Branch opened in October. Weber Road and Grant's View are expected to reopen in December 2015, and Rock Road in January 2016.
The renovations were made possible by the Your Library Renewed campaign, a tax increase approved by voters in 2012. For more information about Your Library Renewed, visit slcl.org.
