Toddlers and school-aged children through eighth grade who are Medicaid-eligible, qualify for a school lunch program or need dental assistance due to other circumstances may receive free dental care at Give Kids A Smile, a free two-day clinic that will be offered Feb. 19-20 at Saint Louis University’s Center for Advanced Dental Education.
Children participating in the clinics will receive X-rays, professional cleanings, fluoride treatments and sealants, as well as fillings, root canals and oral surgery, as needed. Services will be provided by hundreds of local dental professionals. Appointments are required and may be made by calling Give Kids A Smile at 636-397-6453 or online at gkas.org . The deadline to register is Feb. 10. The event will also feature face painters, balloon artists, games, a Spanish-speaking Tooth Fairy and Delta Dental’s Tooth Wizard.
Give Kids A Smile was developed in 2002 by Jeffrey Dalin, DDS; B. Ray Storm, DDS; Tom Flavin, DDS; Mark Ortinau, DDS; and Jan Storm, RDHB. Its mission is to provide children of families who cannot afford dental care with access to the benefits of dental services. The organization has provided $7.5 million worth of comprehensive dental care services completely free of charge to 14,360 local underserved children through its bi-annual dental clinics, which are held in February and October.
