No ruby slippers are required to travel to Oz. Fans of the classic film can once again follow the yellow brick road to Clarksville for a day of fun at the free "A Day in Oz" festival Saturday, Aug. 27.
The day kicks off with breakfast at the American Legion with The Spirit of Oz, a “Wizard of Oz” character troupe that appears at Oz-themed celebrations across the nation. Other activities will include character meet-and-greets from 10:30 a.m-12:30 p.m. in Riverfront Park, a Little Miss Dorothy and Little Mr. Scarecrow Contest, costume contests, puppet shows, a Wicked Witch cackle contest, an Auntie Em Pie Eating Contest and more.
Tickets for the breakfast are $8 and can be purchased in advance on Facebook beginning next week. For more information visit “A Day in Oz” on Facebook.
