After extensive renovation, the indoor ice rink at Kennedy Recreation Complex reopened to the public Oct. 1.
Due to recurring problems with the ice and HVAC equipment, the rink, which originally opened in 1976, received numerous updates to increase reliability and energy efficiency. The concrete floor was demolished and replaced with a new rink. Other improvements include a new HVAC system that will lower energy costs, a new fire alarm system that will help meet safety standards, and fresh paint. New walkways, landscaping and other improvements are also in the works.
The ice rink at Kennedy Recreation Complex will be open until March 9, 2017. Upcoming special events include Skate with Santa 3:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, and Stories at the North Pole and Skating 10 a.m.-noon Friday, Dec. 23.
Kennedy Recreation Complex is located at 6050 Wells Rd., St. Louis, MO, 63128. Admission is $4 for seniors and children ages 4-12, $5 for adults and free for children ages 3 and under.
