The 17th annual St. Louis Canine Games will be held on Sunday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Purina Farms. All purebred and mixed breed dogs are invited to join the noncompetitive games.
Activities include agility, flyball, flying disc, lure coursing, harness events, canine good citizen, race the wind, rally obedience, canine Einstein, dog park and earth dog. Participants may decide which Canine Games they'd like to participate in on the day of the event. You may preregister for five events for just $15 by Oct. 10. The event is hosted by Purina Farms, Spirit of St. Louis Samoyed Club, and St. Louis Samoyed Rescue.
Howl-oween Canine Costume Contest The Howl-oween Canine Costume Contest will also be Oct. 13 at Purina Farms. Dress up your canine companion and strut your stuff for a chance to win a frightfully terrific prize. The top three winners each get a dog lover's gift basket. The contest takes place during the 17th Annual Canine Games at Purina Farms from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event provides a chance for dogs and their owners to test their aptitude for sports-like agility and obedience while raising money for homeless pets.
The costume contest is at 11:30 a.m. in the Incredible Dog Arena. Call 314-982-3232 Monday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. to sign up.
Located on more than 300 acres of rolling hills, Purina Farms offers animal lovers of all ages an opportunity to get up close and personal with barnyard animals and everyday pets such as dogs and cats. Purina Farms features the Visitor's Center where kids can play in the hayloft, milk a cow, take a tractor-drawn wagon ride and watch exciting canine performances of flying disc and diving dog. The Purina Event Center, a state-of-the-art indoor facility, is designed to host a variety of canine activities from conformation shows to performance events like obedience, agility and flyball. The facility is located on the Purina Farms property and gives visitors a chance to see some of the most prestigious dog shows in the country year-round.
