They say the first line of a story is the hardest to write, so the St. Louis County Library has written it for young writers: "It started out like any other family road trip ..."
Find out exactly what your kids think about your recent road trip (or perhaps just how keen their imaginations can be) by encouraging them to finish this story. Young scribes, ages 8-18, who write an original story that begins with that sentence could win cash prizes. Winners will be chosen from three groups: ages 8-10, ages 11-14, and ages 15-18. Cash prizes will be awarded to those who place first, second and third in each of the three age groups.
The official rules are on the St. Louis County Library website. Entries must be submitted between March 1 and March 31. The contest is part of the library's Art @ Your Library programming.
