Gordon Korman, the author of more than 75 books for kids and young adults, will be speaking at Central Library at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13. He'll be discussing his wildly popular "Swindle" series as part of the library's Spring 2014 Reading Pays - Pass It On program.
Kids in grades 3-6 can prepare for Korman's visit by participating in the Pass It On program. Simply visit a St. Louis Public Library branch to pick up a free copy of "Swindle" (while supplies last). The catch? Kids should finish the book and then share it with a friend.
In addition to the "Swindle" mysteries, Korman is also the New York Times bestselling author of "The Hynotists" series and "The 39 Clues."
There are six books in the "Swindle" series with an additional installment due out next January. "Swindle" is the first book in the series and introduces a dream team of kids who perform blockbuster-movie-style operations — from stealing back a million-dollar baseball card, to breaking mistreated animals out of a cheesy zoo, to hiding a lovable but unstable and occasionally vicious Doberman from his unscrupulous former owner."Swindle" is the basis of a Nickelodeon movie by the same name that was released in 2013.
Korman's books have been translated into nearly 30 languages and have sold more than 25 million copies worldwide. Books will be available for purchase at the event courtesy of Left Bank Books.
