Urban Eats Cafe Central debuted at the St. Louis Public Library's Central Library on Tuesday, Aug. 12. The new cafe offers smoothies, coffee, tea, and wraps, flatbreads, salads, snacks and treats.
The library cafe, which is a first for area libraries, is currently open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It will be open for some library special events, including Not So Quiet Concerts.
"Urban Eats is a social enterprise with a mission of urban revitalization through healthy food, art and providing a community gathering place," said Caya Aufiero, co-owner of Urban Eats Cafe. "We feel that mission is closely in sync with the library's mission to its community. It's a great partnership for us, and the location again, is in a developing neighborhood -- downtown."
