The Magic House was one of only three institutions in the state of Missouri to receive the grant this year.
"Our grants are highly competitive. The Institute of Museum and Library Services enlists hundreds of library and museum professionals throughout the United States to review grant applications and make recommendations on projects most worthy of funding," said IMLS Director Susan H. Hildreth. "Receiving a grant from IMLS is significant achievement, and we congratulate The Magic House for being among the 2014 IMLS museum grantees."
"We are honored to have IMLS' support to create a new exhibit that will provide young children in our area with access to engaging age-appropriate STEM education experiences," said Beth Fitzgerald, President at The Magic House. "Our goal is to spark early interest in STEM and provide families with a space where exploration and discovery are encouraged and supported."
Construction of the new exhibit could begin in fall 2015.
