The Discovery Room provides a hands-on environment for children ages 1 and up to explore and learn about science through reading and interactive exhibits. New features will include a saltwater aquarium, a two-level rocket ship, a shadow theater and a large-scale block play area.
The Discovery Room will be closed Friday, Dec. 12 through Friday, Dec. 19 for the renovations. While the Discovery Room is closed, families with young children will enjoy visiting the Dana Brown Fossil Prep Lab and Dig Site or taking in a show at the James S. McDonnell Planetarium. Families can also do a little sleuthing at The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes, which teaches deductive reasoning by putting visitors in the dapper hat of the world's most famous detective.
The renovations will be complete when the Discovery Room reopens Dec. 19. For photos of the renovation visit the Science Center on Facebook.
Visitors to the Discovery Room are limited to 50 at a time; 45-minute sessions are available throughout the week and begin on the hour. Admission is $3.50.
