Children can follow the adventures of a gray fox kit at “Fox in the Forest,” a new Storybook Walk now open at Quail Ridge Park in Wentzville. The Storybook Walk is designed to get children excited about reading, encourage them to discover nature and the outdoors, and to exercise together as a family.
“Fox in the Forest” Storybook Walk, open now through December, was made possible by a partnership between the Missouri Department of Conservation and the St. Charles City-County Library Foundation . The story introduces children to the types of animals they might encounter in Missouri’s forests, including a luna moth, tiger salamander, box turtle and white-tailed deer. Pages of the book will be set up on water-resistant display posts on the paved trail just behind Quail Ridge Lodge.
The book, written by Lorna Domke and illustrated by wildlife artist David Besenger, may be purchased for $6.50 at some MDC offices or online at MDCnatureshop.com.
Quail Ridge Park is located at 5501 Quail Ridge Parkway, Wentzville, MO, 63385. It is open from 7 a.m. until one half hour after sunset.
