The future of play is now! The Magic House will be the first museum in the nation to host Future Play: Art + Technology, an innovative digital playground. The international traveling exhibit encourages children to explore collaboration and creativity using technology, art and imagination. The hands-on, interactive digital exhibit opens May 28.
At Future Play, kids can explore four different interactive areas. In Sketch Town, visitors can sketch their own virtual town, which is projected onto oversized walls and becomes reactive to their touch. Drawings can also be made into 3-D papercraft models that visitors can take home. In the Light Ball Orchestra, kids can create music by rolling giant, soft balls that change in sound and color. In Connecting Blocks, children work together to create roads and railways using blocks on a table that becomes a large-scale screen. And in Hopscotch, a staple of playground fun goes high-tech as kids navigate a beautiful course projected on the floor.
The traveling exhibit will be at The Magic House May 28-Sept. 5. It is free with regular museum admission. The exhibit is presented in collaboration with Team Lab Kids, Inc., an interdisciplinary creative group that brings together professionals from various fields of practice in the digital society to achieve a balance between art, science, technology and creativity.
The Magic House is located at 516 S. Kirkwood Rd., St. Louis, MO, 63122. Call 314-822-8900 for more information.
