CityArchRiver is inviting the public to celebrate spring and explore the latest park renovations at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial at a free Spring into your Park event Saturday, April 8 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
To encourage visitors to explore the renovations, CityArchRiver will offer a Discovery Map Challenge, a scavenger hunt tour of the park that highlights the changes and additions; prizes will be awarded for participation. Spring into your Park will also feature live music, food vendors, lawn games and children’s activities.
“The Gateway Arch grounds have been renovated to be a park for everyone to enjoy in many ways,” said Mike Ward, Superintendent of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. “Everyone is invited to rediscover this unique park that honors St. Louis’ role in the westward expansion of the United States.”
The renovation design was developed by Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates with private funding through the CityArchRiver Foundation. Construction on the renovated park landscape work is funded by the National Park Service, Great Rivers Greenway and the CityArchRiver Foundation. Great Rivers Greenway is overseeing funding provided by Proposition P.
CityArchRiver is working to enhance the Gateway Arch experience by creating a seamless park experience from the city to the Mississippi River. The event leads up to the annual GO! St. Louis Marathon April 9, which will start and end on the riverfront for the first time.
