This summer, passengers aboard the Ninja roller coaster at Six Flags St. Louis can embark on a battle in outer space using a Samsung Gear VR headset.
The new Galactic Attack Virtual Reality Coaster uses the next generation of VR to deliver a complex game play experience. With passthrough camera technology, riders will be able to see the real world and the virtual world as they enter a wormhole. Gameplay technology enables the rider to make choices that control their experience and determine the outcome of the game.
Season pass holders can be among the first to ride Galactic Attack May 6. The experience will open to the public May 7 and on select dates throughout the season. Note that due to flooding, some local highways were closed as of press time May 4. The park plans to move forward with the opening of the new attraction May 6-7, but encourages visitors to check its Facebook page for updates. Guests must be at least 13 to ride with the headset. This is the second year Six Flags will offer a virtual reality experience on the Ninja.
The park will also debut a new thrill ride this season. Spinsanity will feature a dual rocking, spinning motion complete with a giant disc that rotates both clockwise and counter-clockwise while arcing side to side, and a 5-story-tall half-pipe structure. Season pass holders will be able to ride May 24-25. The attraction will open to the public May 26.
