Maryland Heights will debut a new community center May 20 with an afternoon of activities.

The Maryland Heights Community Center, located at 2300 McKelvey Rd., Maryland Heights, features a 9,000-square-foot aquatic center complete with a zip line, zero-entry kids’ area, climbing walls, a drop slide, a current channel and three lap lanes. The new center also houses a gymnasium, a fitness center, an indoor track, a preschool and more.

Maryland Heights will celebrate the new center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. May 20, followed by music, food, a scavenger hunt and other kids’ activities until 4 p.m. Overflow parking and shuttle service will be available at the Government Center, located at 11911 Dorset Rd., Maryland Heights, MO.

The grand opening celebration is part of Kids to Parks Day. In honor of this national event, Maryland Heights Mayor Mike Moeller will also visit several local parks to hand out prizes throughout the afternoon: Dogport, 3-3:30 p.m.; Eise Park, 3:45-4:15 p.m.; Parkwood Park, 4:30-5 p.m.; and Vago Park, 5:15-5:45 p.m. For more information and park locations, visit the City of Maryland Heights website.
