Give Kids A Smile will help St. Louis-area children keep their pearly whites healthy by offering a free dental care clinic Oct. 27-28 at Saint Louis University’s Center for Advanced Dental Education. The clinic will serve toddlers through eighth grade who are Medicaid-eligible, qualify for the free school lunch program or need dental assistance due to other circumstances.
Several St. Louis-area dentists founded Give Kids A Smile in 2002 to provide dental care and dental services to families that might not otherwise be able to afford it. Founding sponsor Delta Dental of Missouri also donates funding for the event to create a fun atmosphere, including music, games, face painters, balloon artists and a visit by the Tooth Fairy. Children will receive a free lunch, a smile bag and a free book, courtesy of the St. Louis County Library Foundation.
The clinic will offer X-rays, professional cleanings, fluoride treatments and sealants, as well as fillings, root canals and oral surgery, as needed. The clinic can serve up to 600 children. Appointments are required. For more information about volunteering at the clinic or to register for an appointment, call 636-397-6453 or visit www.givekidsasmile.org.
