A new addition at St. Louis County Library’s Prairie Commons Branch is giving young readers even more room to bloom.
In early April, the library dedicated a new Discovery Patio, which features play elements and outdoor games. Children can spin and dig on two pivoting diggers, play on an oversized checkerboard, compete at tic-tac-toe bugs and express themselves on an outdoor chalkboard. The patio also features a raised garden bed, which is home to a “Magical Fairy Garden.”
The library will host several upcoming programs at the new patio. On April 19 at 10 a.m., kids ages 3-6 can create fairy houses. Ages 10-18 can help rockscape the Magical Fairy Garden and make their own zen rock project to bring home at 3:30 p.m. April 25. The Discovery Patio will also host a flower-themed nature club for ages 6-11 at 4:30 p.m. May 3. For more information and to register for programs, visit slcl.org.
Discovery Patio will be open during normal library hours, weather permitting. The Prairie Commons Branch is located at 915 Utz Lane, Hazewood, MO.
