A partnership between the World Bird Sanctuary and Variety the Children’s Charity of St. Louis will help to expand educational opportunities for families with sensory needs.
For the first time, the two organizations are teaming up to host a new Sensory Night at World Bird Sanctuary 5-7:30 p.m. Sept. 29. The sensory-friendly event, which is open to guests of all ages and abilities, will help visitors learn more about animals by using their senses. World Bird Sanctuary will host several stations with varying sensory experiences, including those that focus on sound, smell, touch and sight, as well as a craft. WBS will also present a 30-minute live animal show featuring a wide range of animals, including a bald eagle, from 6:30-7 p.m. All regular exhibits will be open as well. The event is free and open to visitors of all abilities; no registration is required.
Variety the Children's Charity of St. Louis helps children with physical and developmental disabilities reach their full potential by providing equipment to help improve their mobility, recreational and cultural opportunities, and more. World Bird Sanctuary works to protect threatened bird species through conservation education, propagation, field studies and rehabilitation of injured animals. Variety Kids hosted a similar program this summer during Adventure Camp.
