JULY 8, 2011 -- The latest IMAX 3D theater in St. Louis is opening at AMC Chesterfield 14 on Friday, July 15, just in time for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2," according to an AMC Theatres press release.
The IMAX experience combines crystal-clear images, powerful digital sound and customized theatre geometry to create a uniquely immersive movie experience, according to the release. The IMAX® theatre at this location has been custom-designed for use in a multiplex theatre. To maximize the field of view in the modified auditorium, the screen was replaced with a larger, slightly curved and specially treated IMAX screen positioned closer to the audience.
The IMAX theatre at AMC Chesterfield 14 will feature Hollywood's biggest movies that have been digitally re-mastered into IMAX's format. Other upcoming Hollywood movies to be released in IMAX format include: "Reel Steel" (opening Oct. 7), "Puss and Boots" (opening Nov. 4), "Happy Feet 2" (opening Nov. 18), "Mission Impossible" (opening Dec. 16) and "The Adventures of Tintin" (opening Dec. 28).
AMC Chesterfield 14 is located at Chesterfield Mall, 3000 Chesterfield Mall, Chesterfield, Mo., 63017.
Other IMAX theaters in St. Louis are located at Regal St. Louis Mills Stadium 18, Saint Louis Science Center and Wehrenberg Ronnies 20 Cine.
