Tables are just as fancy, with formal settings and tiered platters of assorted tea sandwiches and sugary pastries. The Ritz staff are quite attentive and ready to serve up hot tea, hot cocoa with marshmallows, or anything else your group may desire (they’ve been known to find a cup of milk or off-menu banana for a hungry yet picky little eater when asked). Groups may be seated either at dining tables or at cozy upholstered sofas with coffee tables, so inquire when you make your reservation if you have a preference. High chairs are available for the littles upon request, and will help alleviate a little stress for moms bringing small children (all those breakable dishes at arm’s reach!).
The entertainment at Teddy Bear Tea is just as charming as the setting, with sing-along caroling, holiday story-telling by the crackling fire, face painting, and a cupcake decorating station. What to wear? Your holiday best, of course! Teddy Bear Tea is the perfect place to give your holiday dresses a whirl in advance of those Christmas parties or church services. (Isn’t it nice to be able to wear them twice?) Just keep in mind the day’s activities – hot cocoa, cupcake decorating, and face painting – and your child’s mess-making ability, when making your attire selections.
This year, Teddy Bear Tea will be served at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 26 and 27; and at both 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 3 and 4, Dec. 10 and 11, and Dec. 17 and 18. The event will also be held just before the Christmas holiday on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 23 and 24 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (There may be a renowned jolly visitor from the North Pole one of these dates, if his busy schedule allows.)
The “Special Reindeer Edition” of Teddy Bear Tea on Dec. 10 and 11 will be enhanced by the presence of Santa’s live reindeer pals, waiting to eagerly greet guests upon entry and pose for your holiday card photos, so don’t forget to bring a camera. Guests on all dates are also encouraged to bring a new stuffed teddy bear as a donation to the charity Friends of Kids with Cancer.
Teddy Bear Tea is $55 for adults and $45 for children ages 2 through 12 (no charge for guests under age 2). Credit cards are required over the phone just to hold your reservation, but attendees will pay individually at the event. Sessions do sell out, so reserve your spot early by calling 314- 719-1433.
