Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site will host the World Bird Sanctuary of St. Louis for its Raptor Awareness Show. The event will be held in the Cahokia Mounds Interpretive Center auditorium. The program is free and open to the public.
Live birds of prey, or raptors, will be featured and the handlers will describe each bird, its habits and habitats, characteristics, and diet. The show will include a wide variety of raptors and can include owls, hawks, falcons, kestrels and vultures. The birds will fly between the handlers and some may fly over the heads of the audience.
This is a popular program, so visitors are encouraged to arrive early to get a seat. Once the show begins, no one will be admitted to the auditorium so as not to startle the birds or interrupt the show. Click here for more information on Cahokia Mounds.
